About
Pastor Pete & Doreen Jansson
Long Island, NY
A story of loss, love, and legacy — and a marriage built by God’s design.
A Shared Foundation
Pete and Doreen were both married for decades, with families and a life that was well-established in their church and communities. They had known each other for 15 years working on staff at their church teaching parenting classes and partnering together in counseling married couples and their families.
A Season of Loss
Pete was also Doreen’s daughters' youth pastor through middle school. In 2011 and 2012, both Pete and Doreen sadly lost their spouses to cancer. Cheryl, Pete’s wife, died of breast cancer and Doreen’s husband, Greg died of lung cancer.
A New Beginning
As time passed, God brought Pete and Doreen together and they found hope and healing in one another. They both understood the pain of loss and desire to find love again— a love God graciously provided. Pete and Doreen married in April of 2014.
A Calling to Marriage Ministry
As they began their marriage, they prayed and asked God “Why us? Why did God bring the two of us together?” So much had to happen to bring us together and our families’ lives have been permanently altered. There had to be some purpose to it all. They both knew instinctively, and as an answer to prayer, that marriage ministry would be a calling on their lives as a married couple.
Equipping Couples for Lasting Legacy
With Pete’s 46 years of pastoral ministry to youth and families, and Doreen’s 30 years of leading women’s ministries and a nonprofit pregnancy center, along with their personal experiences of pain, loss, recovery and starting over, they bring a wealth of practical tools and Biblical principles to authentically teach God’s design for marriage.
Pastor Pete and Doreen have dedicated their ministry to restoring what matters most—faith, family, and healthy relationships. Through their Marriage by Design conferences and Rhythms of Rest retreats, they equip couples, pastors, and ministry leaders to build resilient marriages, cultivate healthy rhythms of life and ministry, and create a generational legacy that reflects God's love, strengthens families, and transforms communities.
